In a rare instance a highly venomous Spotted Black Snake has been caught by local Gold Coast Snake Catcher Tim Hudson in a car engine in Nerang on the Gold Coast.
Commonly found west of the Great Dividing Range and sometimes in the Lockyer Valley the snake was a ‘hitchhiker’ seeking refuge in a warm engine, making its way to the Gold Coast suburb. “We don’t expect to see these species of deadly snake this close to the East coast and the client mentioned their car had not been out to the west recently, so it shows just how far and wide uncommon species of snakes can travel,” says Snake Catcher, Tim Hudson.
After being called to relocate a snake from a car engine, Snake Catcher Tim was tasked with dismantling the engine to ensure he could safely remove the fierce and deadly reptile. With his fingertips clenching gentle along the body of the deadly reptile he was able to guide it out of the headlight of the car.
“It’s services as a reminder to all Gold Coast locals to be alert and aware that it is snake season and to call a local snake catcher to safely remove and relocate unwanted reptiles to a suitable habitat away from people,” says Tim Hudson.
