Dwarf Crowned Snake
(Cacophis Kreffti)
HIGHLY VENOMOUS
Identification: Colour varies from brown to black and head is slightly distinct from the neck with a white to yellow stripe present around the head.
Habitat: Coastal regions with a broad habitat preference, but mainly suited to well forested country.
Diet: Feeds on small lizards and skinks.
Reproduction: Lays eggs with up to 5 in a clutch.
Danger: Weakly venomous, but mouth and fang size is too small to be regarded as dangerous to humans.

Behaviour: Hides in and underneath hollow logs and will assume a defensive posture if threatened.
